Vietnam, Sweden plan to celebrate 40 years of diplomatic ties |

Hanoi (VNA) - The Swedish Embassy in Vietnam plans to organise a series of activities throughout the year to mark the 40 th
anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Sweden and
Vietnam , said Swedish Ambassador to Hanoi , Rolf Bergman, during a press
briefing on January 9.
A Vietnamese-Swedish musical evening, which will take
place in Hanoi on Jan. 11, will kick-start the celebrations with a night of
spectacular musical performances.
Other important events are planned
throughout the rest of the year, including Blogera opera performances on May
25-26 to mark the occasion of the ASEM foreign ministers’ meeting in Hanoi , an
event celebrating Swedish flag day on June 6 and a sumptuous smorgasbord to
celebrate Santa Lucia’s day, a traditional Swedish festival which falls on
December 13.
In addition, the Swedish Embassy plans to host seminars
focusing on the environment and cooperation in the education sector, as well as
setting up an art exhibition.
As part of the activities, a
Sweden-Vietnam business forum is expected to be established in May 2009, in
response to a visit to Stockholm on June 2008 by Vietnamese Standing Deputy PM
Nguyen Sinh Hung.
