Sweden grants scholarships to gifted children Print
Hanoi (VNA) – The National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC) granted Phu Dong scholarships, sponsored by Swedish Comvik International Vietnam AB company, to gifted children in Hanoi on December 22  

Six young scholarship winners who have got excellent achievements in national and international contests in chemistry, mathematics, informatics, foreign languages and history were given 4.5 million VND each.

The grant, part of the cooperation between NFVC and the Swedish company in the 2006-2009 period, aims at encouraging Vietnamese young talents to promote their abilities to serve the country.

NFVC has since 1994 granted nearly 22,000 scholarships totalling 12 billion VND to Vietnamese children.

Meanwhile US Carnegie Mellon university has announced a 1.2 billion VND scholarship programme to train software engineers in Vietnam .

The granting programme, funded by Boeing airline, Danish International Development Agency and DTT technology corp., was launched on December 15.

The Research Fund will be operating as of April 2005 with the aim to support applied  researches, independent or interdisciplinary, of high scientific merit in the area of Health, Biotechnology, Rural development and Environment. The duration of each research may be from 1-2 years.
