Final conference of the Vietnam – Sweden research cooperation programme
The Vietnam – Sweden research cooperation programme will have its final conference to be held at Hanoi Daewoo Hotel on 30th May 2012. This event is co-organized by the Swedish Embassy Hanoi and Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology. This event will mark the finalization of a long cooperation in research and training between scientific communities of the two countries and open up opportunities for research cooperation under new modality of cooperation based on the capacity built during the bilateral cooperation of the past 35 years.

Swedish Ambassador for Climate Change visited Vietnam
EoS in Hanoi - Swedish Ambassador for Climate Change Ms Anna Lindstedt came to Vietnam in mid March to see and learn about Vietnams work on Climate change and share Swedish experiences. As former ambassador to Vietnam in 2003-2006, Anna was very happy to return to Vietnam in her new capacity and also promote new forms of collaboration such as through the Clean Development Mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol. She stressed that Climate Change negotiations require good relationships between the parties and Sweden and Vietnam have always had a special relationship which also in this area is important.

Scaling - up success by the Asian Development Bank from Sweden’s energy support in Viet Nam
EoS in Hanoi - In 2004, Sweden launched the Vietnam – Sweden Rural Energy Programme (VSRE) with Vietnam´s Ministry of Industry and Trade for the acceleration of electrification in the country’s rural and mountainous areas through the use of off-grid renewable energy systems, especially small and medium-scale hydropower, solar PV and biogas technology.

New Ambassador to Vietnam
EoS in Hanoi - The Swedish Government has appointed Lars-Olof Lindgren as the new Ambassador to Vietnam. Lars-Olof Lindgren is presently Sweden’s Ambassador to India. Earlier he has worked as State Secretary for Foreign and European Affairs in the Prime Minister’s office, as State Secretary for Foreign Trade and as Director-General for Foreign Trade. He has served in the Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels, in the Embassy in Beijing and in the Delegation to the OECD in Paris.
